Voice
An estimated 17.9 million U.S. adults ages 18 or older, or 7.6%, report having had a problem with their voice in the past 12 months.
Voice problems can be a symptom of a number of conditions. They are associated with common causes like reflux and acute laryngitis, and more serious problems like vocal cord paralysis and laryngeal cancer. As such, any voice change that persists longer than two weeks should be evaluated by one of our expert laryngologists.
Voice disorders that we treat:
- Paradoxical vocal cord motion
- Muscle tension dysphonia
- Renkes edema
- Reflux laryngitis
- Laryngeal papillomas
- Voice misuse
- Vocal nodules
- Vocal polyps
- Hoarseness
If you experience changes in your voice — such as hoarseness, sudden change in pitch, change in vocal quality — or have difficulty speaking or have a chronic cough or throat clearing you should see an ENT specialist.
